After being missing for over two weeks, a dog from South Surrey was reunited to its owner.

Casper, the Labradoodle, disappeared in early January and survived the harshest conditions on the Lower Mainland alone.

His owner almost gave up hope that her beloved furry friend would never be found after he was missing for 17 consecutive days.

Casper was spotted on Tuesday, wandering around a golf course close to the Nicomekl River.

Liz Ostereicher said that she had launched a thorough search for Casper, and is delighted that he has returned home.

“This was not a solo find, there was many many people involved in finding Casper. I can’t believe it, really,” she said.

Reilly Cowan, who helped find Casper, said that they were so happy with their outcome.

“About 30, 20 minutes after we first saw him, someone got a hold of him and we took him back over to the golf course, put heat on him and a blanket,” she said.

“(It was a) feel-good moment.”

The search was assisted by many groups, including Pet Searchers volunteers and the Scent Rescue Team.
